Hey ya'll,
We've been out of touch for a little while. Unforeseen circumstances have kept us out of the loop lately. But we will be making a come back soon. As a small mom & pop (or girlfriends) owned business life sometimes gets in the way of things. But we are in the process of revamping some of our product offerings and website and will be making our come back very soon so please be patient and watch our site for the announcement.

Flower Pop Punch

This card uses the ED019 plate "Garden Of Friends"
by Elemental Doodles images together with a pop up floral punch by Martha Stewart.
I punched the flower several times on different colored paper and "meshed" them together so you can see all the colors when you are looking at the card itself. Sorry but my scanner didn't allow the under layers to show well. I must figure out how to use my digital camera on this type in the future.
Just take my word for it, the flower is gorgeous!
I added small pearls to the punched center for more bling. This has got to be my favorite set of Elemental Doodles images to date! There is so much that can be done with this set.

This face is so intriguing. I made these bookmarks with some scraps of Basic Gray Marrikech paper pad, Martha Stewart shell punches, the butterfly from ED015 Mini Chocoholic and the face from ED011 Just a note.

The team at Elemental Doodles is back today and ready to ship out images ... this little teapot is one of my favorites. I stamped out a stack and will be playing with them today. The Atc's are outlined with copics. And ... here is my first ED card of the new year.

Merry Christmas! aka December Challenge

My entry for the DT December Challenge was a Christmas ornament made from a CD.
I began by trimming 2 circles same size as a CD. I glued one side onto the CD after stamping and coloring the images (all from Elemental Doodles plate ED008 "Mystic Fairy").
Then I cut small 2" pcs of ribbon and folded each in half with a twist and glued them together. When dried I attached them with glue lines to the CD around the edge.
I stamped the other paper and glued it on the CD after adding a larger ribbon for a hanger.
Below is the opposite side:

I added some sticker words to finish it off and hung it on my Christmas tree!

Stamp verse near bottom right corner of base with black dye ink

Forest Fairies

I've been busy again this morning! I made this card using ED007 Forest Fairies stamp and Ed091 Garden of Friends stamp sets. This is my first Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I'm so excited to finally make a card from one of their sketches.

Spellbinders™ Die Templates used: S4-192 Nestabilities™ Blossom, S4-114 Nestabilities™ Standard Circles LG (die #6), S3-150 Ribbon Tags Trio.

I used Copic Markers to color the image as well as outline the circle and ribbon die cuts.
Hair: E25, 29, 31 Dress: RV13, 21, 23 Flower/Leaf: G21, 24 Y11, 18 Skin: E000, 00 Wings: B0000,000 Shadow: C0

Cuttlebug embossing folder: Victoria (37-1916)
I used glitter on the wings but it never shows up in photos. Also, if you click on the photo you will see where I used Versamark ink and clear embossing powder around the border of the card.

I hope you enjoy this card as much as I did making it!

Just a Note....

I played a bit this weekend with ED011-Just a Note stamp set.

Isn't this the cutest thing ever? The tiny card that is.

I used the McGill Tall Tags™ Rounded and folded it in half. Then I used the Dotted Swiss punch from EkSuccess for the border. It is so cute and just the right size for this mini card. I used Spellbinders Nestabilities® Die Templates Labels Six die #2 for the embellishment, using ED017-Just a Note Mini, stamped the ink well in black and embossed the quill in gold. I then cut it out and inserted in the in well. I used a craft knife to make a slit to slide it into.

I used Spellbinders Nestabilities® Die Templates Curved Rectangles die #2 and embossed it on the card front. I then cut one from scrap paper for a mask and stamped the ink spot around the embossed area. Stamp the envelope on patten paper, cut an opening and inserted the little card. I stamp the ink well in black and embossed the quill in gold for the larger card, cut those out as well and adhered them to the card front with foam squares.

Hot Chocolate Card

HOT CHOCOLATE CARD

Cover disk holder in patterned paper trimming as needed.

Cut cardstock and attached a pull tab to create a note area. Stamp image on the pull tab. Slide behind left side pocket.

Stamp images directly on the patterned paper on the left and right inside pockets.

Stamp sentiment and image on cardstock matching the inserted note card. Trim and mat with cardstock matching the tab on the inserted note card.

Stamp images on the petals of the flowers that will be used to decorate the disk holder. Assemble the flowers using a brad to hold it all together. Adhere flowers to the front along the left and bottom edge. Punch branches and adhere under the petals of the flowers.

Stamp sentiment on the lighter cardstock, trim and mount on the darker cardstock. Adhere to the front of the holder.

Tuck some hot chocolate mix or tea into the right hand inside pocket.

I just sort of stamped images from Plate #017 here and there until I liked it. Then I began masking some and sponged inks. Stuck some notes in a slit in the envelope and there you have it.
A super-simple card that can be designated for several different reasons.

I used the Perfect Pear Scent A Mist on this cute frame I found at the dollar store. I like that the wood grain still shows through but it is now green instead.

I used stamps from the Garden of Friends set to stamp and cut out on heavy paper the pieces on the frame. The inside is a piece of paper from Hollo's cut to size and stamped and colored then put behind the glass of the frame. A fun easy project that would make an excellent gift for someone to display on their desk or hang in their home.

Connie's October Challenge Card

Here is my rendition of the October challenge. We could use the colors red, black and white with any theme.

Supplies:

Elemental Doodles plate 011 "Just A Note"

red, black, white cardstock (unknown)

Black glitter brads (Oriental Trading)

Circle punch (McGill)

Double stick tape (Scotch)

Black Memento dye ink (Tsukineko)

Directions:

1) Fold red cardstock into A2 card

2) Cut 2 white panels and layer on 2 black panels slightly larger

3) Stamp images on larger white panel and affix to red base on left side

4) Punch 3 evenly spaced holes in smaller white panel and put 3 large black brads thru and adhere to red base

Chocoholic Friends

When I first saw the Chocoholic Stamps from Elemental Doodles I knew they would be fun to use for things other than cards too! Today I am sharing something I made.

I saw this sign at Joann's and picked it up thinking I want to see if the Scent-A-Mist's will work on things like this. So when I got home I sprayed just the letters with the Chocoholic Scent-A-Mist. Mmmmmm I was messaging with a friend later and told her that spraying chocolate scent in the craft room at something like 6 AM was not the proper way to start off a Saturday because I was already wanting chocolate since every time I stepped near the room that was all I smelled! We laughed about it but I DID have to go get chocolate later in the day I couldn't take it anymore! LOL

I then used the chocolate "splats" to randomly stamp with Memento Rich Cocoa Ink all over the letters and the base.. It was dark enough that it contrasted with the Scent-A-Mist on the letters.

For the base part I used Ranger Distress Crackle Pain in Antique Linen. Look at the close up you can see the crackle. I didn't put it on real thick so the crackles are just small but enough for the look I wanted.

I used the wording from the stamp set to stamp along the sides of the letters it says:
"Friends are the chocolate dipped cherries of life!"

I then had stamped and colored and assembled some chocolate dipped cherries to use on the wood too. I attached them with red line tape. Can you see the cherries are all shiny too I used Crystal Lacquer on the top of them. As a finishing touch I added the thin band of ribbon around and tied between the F and R as it was a large gap and looked funny with nothing there :) I did use Tombow MonoMulti Glue under the ribbon so it would stay snug to the wood too.

So as you can see the stamps aren't just for cards and the Scent-A-Mist isn't just for paper! Use your imagination and have fun!

ED006-Coffee Cafe "Framed Coffee"

This image by Elemental Doodles is set off perfectly by the glitzy frame isn't it?

I layered a burgundy panel over the grey base and another grey panel run thru the Cuttlebug "Swiss Dots" folder over that. I stamped the image in burgundy ink onto a scrap of white and trimmed to fit the frame then tied small tags stamped with words from the same ED plate onto the frame before adhering it all on the card.

It's hard to see in my scan, but the frame has gorgeous burgundy jewels scattered around.

By using the same stamp set and coordinating papers, you can easily create a gift set that looks put together. Here I used the coffee set and coffee colored papers to create a group of cards that needs no more than a bow to be a wonderful gift. Add in a couple bags of flavored coffees and a HIS and HER cup, and you have a sweet and very unusual gift for the newlyweds on your gift list.

You can almost smell the coffee aroma from this card!! Actually you can since I used a coffee scented ink....

Brown and black cardstock from my stash
Diecut shapes by Nestabilities
Brown dye inkpad by Ranger "Vintage Java Fizz"
Black Memories dye ink

I cut and layered the designer papers onto a black base card leaving slight borders. I stamped the small cup on one paper and the "wake up" verse on another. A diecut Nestie stamped with "Java" was layered on top. Simple and quick, just my style!

ED010-Autumn Splendor

This card features a beautiful outline and fill in combination. I used dark green ink for the outline of the leaf. Then I took my markers and scribbled on the outside of the solid leaf stamp with green and the inside with a grayish lighter green, leaving space between the two. I misted the stamp with a spritzer spray bottle and stamped the inside. I love how blotchy it looks, just like the leaves all over my driveway.

For the text, I took the saying "Autumn is a second spring when every leaf's a flower," and just inked the word "Autumn" with my marker. Since they are clear stamps, it is so easy to place the word exactly where I wanted it under the leaf. I used the whole text statement on the inside of the card.

Mystic Fairy Mini Album

This was such an easy and fun project to work on. All images used are from the Mystic Fairy Stamp Set. The coloring is done using watercolor pencils and some colors have had Shimmerz paints added for shimmer. The papers used are from various sources as are the inks used.

This project basically uses 3"X3" sleeve protectors, patterned paper, stamps and embellishments of your choice. Complete instructions will be added to our Articles/Tutorial page on our main website shortly.

New Projects

Ladies I apologize for not blogging like I should but our computer at home just got out of the hospital from getting rid of some horribe viruses (384 to be exact). Funny how fixing a computer is twice as much as a doctors visit. Anyway - enough about that. First of all I want to wish each of you a happy valentines day and I hope you are spoiled just as you all deserve to be. I am excited that I get to do nothing but stamp tomorrow. I have a major project that I am working on for a friend who wants me to make her wedding invites and she showed me what she wants and lets just say - I will be a genius and a majorly good friend if I can pull this off. I am going to make a sample for her to look at this weekend so I will share with you when I get it done. On to the projects that I have been working on. It is a series of different cards and ATC's using our amazing stamps. Your comments are welcome and your criticism is also. I am still getting used to my camera and trying to take pictures in the best light possible but in my house there is no such thing as a good area to take pictures. So bear with me ladies and I promise to have that problem fixed before long.

My first card uses the amazing Easter set "He Is Risen". I used the Mojo Monday sketch nmber 72 for this card. Let me just say I LOVE this sketch. You can find it here http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/2009/02/mojo-monday-72-contest.html This card is 6 x 6. I stitched around the edges with my sewing machine in a zig zig stitch. I cut a strip of green card stock 6 x 2 1/2", layed a piece of designer paper 6 x 11/4" and then layered offray ribbon. Pulled a piece of ribbon through a button and tied a knot and adhered it to the strip with a glue dot. I cut a piece of brown background designer paper to 4 x 3", a piece of green designer paper 3 3/4 x 2 3/4" and sewed them together with my sewing machine. I LOVE MY SEWING MACHINE!! I cut a 3 inch scalloped oval with my Cricut using the Storybook cartridge. I punched an oval out of Canson watercolor paper. I stamped the wide cross from the "He is Risen" stamp set in brown Vivid dye ink http://www.sierra-enterprises.com/vivid.htm. I adhered the oval to the scallped oval with red line tape. I finished the inside with a 3 inch scalloped patterend paper oval with a 2 inch oval of Canson watercolor paper with the "He is Risen" sentiment from the stamp set stamped in the Brown Vivid dye ink. I thought this car turned out a lot better than I had it pictured in my head.

This is also a 6 x 6 card using the Mojo Monday sketch number 72. It has a yellow cardstock base. I stamped and embossed the rose from the "Mystic Fairy" stamp set (one of my favorite stamps) in Gold and colored with Twinkling H2O's. I loved the color combination of this card.

Can't you tell I love this sketch - Again Mojo Monday sketch number 72. I stamped the Swan from the "Mystic Fairy" stamp set and the small flourish in the corners of the brown are just stamped with watermark ink.

This is an ATC stamped using Brilliance inks and Memento inks and the "He is Risen" stamp set.

This is an ATC using the "Firecracker USA" stamp set with Vivid Dye Inks in red and blue.

This is a tea card using the "Friendship Tea" set. the card base is double sided card stock cut 6 x 12", scored at 4" and 8 inches. On the far right side measure 2" from the bottom and mark. Cut the cardstock from the mark to the first score at 4 inches at an angle. Fold the cardstock like an accordian, tape it down with red line tape and stamp. The tag is cut using a Sizzix die.

Well that is all the projects I have for right now. If you would like more information on these cards just let me know. I am going to be working on a video tutorial soon. Wish me luck on figuring that out.

Instructions:
1. Cut and fold CS to regular card size
2. Emboss front of CS
3. Cut shapes from printed paper using Slice Noteworthy Design Card (3 1/2" and 4")
4. Cut tag shape using Slice Noteworthy Design Card (2") on matching plain CS
5. Stamp and emboss Pear and Pear Leaves
6. Adhere 4" shape to front of card
7. Color Pear and Pear leaves with H2O's
8. Adhere 3 1/2" shape to center of 4" shape using foam dots.
9. Punch tiny hole in center of tag and add Decorative Brad
10. Ad ribbon to tag and adhere to bottom of card using foam dots

DT Update & Set Update

Design Team Update:
Submissions have already begun to arrive. Every submission so far has been OUTSTANDING!!! Narrowing down the decision to a final 5 is NOT going to be an easy task. We have also received notice from several more that have either already sent out their submissions or are working on theirs to be sent soon. We are so thrilled to see so much interest in our company. And it's so wonderful to see so many talented artists participating.

Each applicant will be receiving a special "thank you for playing" prize regardless of the outcome.

Stamp Sets Update:
We have 4 of our initial 4x6 sets and 2 of our initial 4x4 sets all ready to be made into stamps. These have been drawn from retired Rubbertree Enterprises sheets. Most have been resized to fit the 4x6 sheet as they were originally 5x7 and some of the images were just too large to do much with. Some have been completely revised to suit our style of "Elemental Stamping". Either way we know you will love what we release in March. We are so very pleased with the way these images have come along.

We are looking to build a unique and versatile design team made up of 5 designers. Please see below for complete information about our Design Team Call.

Application Requirements:

Artwork Submission Guidelines

Deadline: Artwork must be received by January 20^th. Design Team
selections will be announced on or before February 1^st.
Create at least 3 cards and 1 non-card project using images of your choice so that we can get an accurate view of your style. These projects should reflect your general style and stamping should be the focus. Please submit full cards and not just card fronts. Artwork should be clean and neat. If you already own Rubbertree Enterprises images you may use these. Otherwise, any stamp line will do as long as stamping is the primary focus of your artwork.
Mail your submissions to: Elemental Doodles, c/o Melodie Hand, 4913 Lord Nelson Dr., Raleigh, NC 27610
Submissions will not be returned. These may be held for future consideration.
Be sure to include the following information attached to the back of each sample: Your Name, mailing address, email address and phone number. If it is not attached it could get lost or separated from your submission so please take the time to attach this information directly to the back of the piece you are submitting.
Please include a cover sheet with the following information provided along with your samples:

Name & Contact Information (same as what you put on the back of your samples)
Brief Self Bio – please include information such as how long you have been
stamping/scrapping/artfully creating, your favorites (coloring mediums, surfaces, stamp style, colors, etc), what inspires you, your other talents/hobbies/interests, etc.
Web address of your blog or other online galleries where your work is posted
What email lists/online communities you are a member of (and active with)
What other design teams are you currently on or were previously on and how long have you been on these design teams?
Why do you want to be a part of the EDDT?

Have you ever used clear stamps and what is your opinion of them?
Publications your work has appeared in (Publication Name, Issue Date, Page Number).
What are your expectations from Elemental Doodles if you were to be a design team member?

Elemental Doodles Design Team (EDDT) Terms

6 month Term running from February-July and August-January
Term may be renewed upon request & review
DT responsibilities include:

Submit a minimum of 3 projects per month (these do not have to be only cards and should be a combination of types of projects) – mailed to 4913 Lord Nelson Dr.,
Raleigh, NC 27610. Each project shall have your name & contact information as
well as a list of ingredients used to complete included.
Submit a minimum of 1 complete step by step project tutorial that can be used as an online tutorial and/or at in person classes hosted by ED.
Promote ED on your personal blog via a direct link to the ED website and regular posting of projects created using ED products.
Post projects created using ED products to email lists, message boards and other online communities you may participate in to help promote ED products.
Participate in the EDDT yahoogroup discussions (a yahoogroup will be formed for the EDDT and each member will be required to join).
Monthly submissions of your artwork to printed stamping/art related publications of your choice using Elemental Doodles stamps and giving stamp /product credits to ED. It would be a good idea to make these submissions different from what you send in as your monthly quota to ED.
There may be, from time to time, a specific project type request from ED.

What ED will provide to DT members:

This is a non-paying position. The only comnpensation artists receive would be the free stamp sets and any other supplies and discounts provided by ED as stated in this notice or other written agreement between ED and the DT members.
One - Two stamp sets per month (this may be either clear or red rubber while we make the transition from rubber to clear stamps). DT members will need to provide a list of Rubbertree Enterprises stamp sets they own so that we can ensure each DT member receives sets they do not already own each month. The stamp set received will be random and may be an existing set or a new set at the discretion of ED.
Other products and supplies may be provided as they become available.
25% discount on all ED stamps and supplies sold through ED.
Spotlight on the ED website and company blog.
Direct linking/promotion of your personal blog on the ED website and company blog.
If you have an Etsy store or other online marketplace where you sell your finished products we will gladly list it on the ED website and blog.
Artwork credit for your artwork published on the ED website and blog.

These terms are subject to change as needed by ED. Any changes will be made in writing.

Our first set of "test" images has arrived. We're so excited that we will be posting some examples using this first set very soon. We'll be doing some tweaking to this set before it is final but the general idea will be there. We have a few designers starting out with us and I'm sure they will be coming up with some wonderful projects to post.
